Landforms is an interactive, AI-powered installation developed for the 'Art of the Americas' gallery at the San Diego Museum of Art, coinciding with the loan of the work 15 Canvas Study of the Grand Canyon by David Hockney.

The experience invites visitors to collaboratively generate a digital landscape - a "Landform"- that reflects their emotional journey and personal preferences as they engage with the museum's collection.

Using artificial intelligence, each user's responses are transformed into a unique visual artwork. Combined with the contributions of other participants, these pieces shape an ever-evolving collective landscape rooted in the themes and content of the exhibition.

The experience unfolds in three stages:

  • Learn: An interactive presentation introduces visitors to the creative universe of David Hockney, providing artistic inspiration and context.

  • Play: Guided through a curated creative process, users answer selected questions and make visual choices related to the gallery.

  • Create: Powered by AI, the visitor's choices are transformed into a Landform—a digital artwork that reflects their emotional and aesthetic journey, which then merges into a shared landscape with other visitors.

We were responsible for the concept, visitor experience design, UI/UX, and technical implementation of this interactive project, ensuring an immersive, creative, and meaningful digital experience.

This project was developed in collaboration with our Digital Hub team at ACCIONA and aimed to enhance the museum visitor experience, as well as attract a younger audience.
